This website is operated by Kat With Wheels. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Kat With Wheels. By accessing this website or purchasing products from it, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Service, together with any additional policies referenced here or made available elsewhere on the site. If you do not agree to these terms in full, you must not use this website or purchase from it.

These Terms of Service apply to all users of the site, including casual browsers, customers, and contributors of content.

Handmade Nature of Products

All yarns sold by Kat With Wheels are handspun in small batches using natural fibres. As a result of this production method:

Variations in thickness, texture, twist, and overall structure are inherent and expected.

Minor irregularities are characteristic of handspun yarn and do not constitute defects.

Skeins produced from the same fibre or batch may differ slightly from one another.

By placing an order, you acknowledge and accept these characteristics as intrinsic to handmade textile production.

Knots & Joins in Handspun Yarn

Every effort is made to minimise knots and joins during the handspinning process. However, due to the nature of natural fibres, fibre preparation, and small-batch handspinning techniques, occasional knots, joins, or splices may be present.

Knots may occur where fibres are joined to maintain continuity during spinning.

These joins are a recognised feature of handspun yarn and do not indicate a fault.

Knots are typically small and secure, and are intended to withstand normal knitting, crochet, or weaving use. If you do not wish for a knot to be present in your work, remove the knot and rejoin as a new yarn using your preferred method.

The presence of occasional knots or joins is not grounds for return or refund.

Colour Representation & Photography

Every reasonable effort is made to represent product colours and textures accurately through photography and written descriptions. However:

Colour appearance may vary depending on screen calibration, display settings, and lighting conditions.

Natural fibres and small-batch dyeing or fibre preparation can result in subtle variation between skeins.

Differences in colour perception or minor tonal variation do not constitute grounds for return or refund.

Yarn Presentation: Hanks & Winding

All yarn is supplied as a hank (skein). Storage in hank form reduces tension on the fibre, helps maintain elasticity, and minimises distortion during long-term storage.

Yarn will only be wound into a cake if this has been explicitly agreed upon before purchase.

Customers requiring caking or specific preparation methods must contact Kat With Wheels before placing an order.

Requests submitted after an order has been placed may not be feasible.

Kat With Wheels accepts no responsibility for fibre damage or performance issues resulting from winding methods requested by the customer.

Processing Times

Ready-to-Ship Items

Ready-made, in-stock items are typically processed within 3–7 business days. Processing time refers solely to order preparation and does not include shipping transit time.

Made-to-Order Items

Made-to-order yarns require additional production time due to the spinning, finishing, and resting processes involved. Typical processing times range from 2–6 weeks, unless otherwise specified in the product listing.

All stated processing times are estimates and may vary due to health considerations, workload fluctuations, or fibre availability. Customers will be notified of any significant delays.

Custom & Bespoke Orders

Custom or bespoke yarn commissions are offered on a limited basis and are subject to the following conditions:

Full payment is required before commencement of work.

Custom orders are non-refundable once production has begun.

Exact replication of previous yarns, colours, or textures cannot be guaranteed due to the variable nature of handspinning.

Updates may be provided at the maker’s discretion; completion timelines are estimates rather than guarantees.

By commissioning a custom order, you acknowledge and accept the inherent variability of handmade yarn.

Returns & Refunds

Due to the nature of handmade and custom textile goods:

Returns are not accepted for custom, bespoke, or made-to-order items.

Returns for ready-made items will only be considered where the item is faulty or significantly misdescribed.

Variations in texture, thickness, colour, or tactile qualities are not considered faults.

Any concerns must be reported within 7 days of delivery, accompanied by clear photographic evidence and a written description of the issue. Approved refunds will be issued once the item is returned unused and in its original condition.

Care Instructions & User Responsibility

Handspun yarn requires appropriate care to maintain fibre integrity. Unless otherwise stated, the recommended care instructions are:

Hand wash gently in cool water using a mild detergent/ wool wash

Do not tumble dry or wring. Squeeze to remove excess water and dry flat, away from direct heat or prolonged sunlight.

Kat With Wheels is not liable for damage resulting from improper care, washing methods, or misuse.

Pricing & Payments

All prices are listed in GBP unless otherwise stated. Prices may be amended at any time without prior notice. Kat With Wheels reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order at its discretion.

Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including but not limited to product names, descriptions, photographs, and branding elements, is the intellectual property of Kat With Wheels and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used without prior written permission.

Amendments to These Terms

Kat With Wheels reserves the right to revise or update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will take effect immediately upon publication on the website.
